The Long Melford Heritage Centre was opened in the spring of 2012
The Parish Council Heritage Centre, was opened in the spring of 2012, by Carenza Lewis.
Andrew Dawes and family, representing the Co Op stores, kindly helped provide the vital funding needed to get the project started, and the opening was extremely well supported. Thanks also go to the ever growing band of enthusiastic Heritage Centre volunteers, who kindly give up some of their spare time, to support this worthwhile community project.
The Heritage Centre was created on the back of the filming in the village, by acclaimed historian Michael Wood, for The Great British Story TV series, which featured much of Long Melford, and it's people.
Each year the Heritage Centre team, strives to always provide a new display for each season.
As well as locals, visitors from all over the world, including America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Asia, have visited the village, and Heritage Centre. Often in order to find out about, and learn more, about their own family history.
