Grants received
Halstead & Sudbury NCT have received a grant of £4520 from the lottery-funded Awards for All, and £7034 from the local charity Colchester Catalyst for the training of our postnatal leader (Caroline) and breastfeeding counsellor (Victoria Burton-Davey) – making a total of £11,554.'The branch is delighted to receive such support for our work with new and expectant parents in the Halstead area. Our volunteers – all of whom are local mums and dads with babies and toddlers of their own – have been working very hard in the community to enable other parents to benefit from the activities and services our charity provides, and now that we have received such a large grant from Colchester Catalyst and Awards for All we can start to make a real difference' says Jane Bellingham, Vice-Chair
Caroline Stinson, Membership Secretary and postnatal leader student notes that 'Having a postnatal leader running local Early Days courses will mean parents can support and learn from each other, often forming friendships that last for years, as well as reducing feelings of isolation in new mums and providing a much needed information service.'

The next NCT Nearly New Sale will be held on 14th June, Queens hall, Halstead.

Baby First Aid courses: Learn how to resuscitate a baby or child whose heart has stopped beating and also how to deal with choking incidents.
Run by NCT in conjunction with LifeSavers, the Royal Life Saving Society UK. The Halstead & Sudbury branch of the National Childbirth Trust has been running ‘Parents, Babes & Toddler’ groups for sometime and has proved so successful it has now expanded to cover all pre school ages, the Halstead group has opened a new 'Mums Room' that operates within the group but has their own room especially for pre crawling babies.The groups are aimed at all parents who want to meet others in a baby-friendly environment with refreshments and toys provided, admission is £1.50 and the groups will continue running throughout the year including school holidays.

NCT Nearly New Sale
Halstead & Sudbury Branch of the NCT (National Childbirth Trust) held a very successful Nearly New Sale at Queens Hall on 15 March. The Hall was packed with good-quality baby, children's and maternity, clothes, toys and equipment, and a record number of buyers came through the door, all of which raised just over £400 for the charity.Halstead & Sudbury NCT is currently raising funds to train two of its members to become a NCT breastfeeding counsellor and NCT postnatal leader to work with expectant and new parents in the Halstead area, and we'd like to thank everyone who was involved in the recent sale.
