Long Melford Long Melford Business Association

The Business Association aims to improve the general environment for business in the village in any way it can.

The Long Melford Business Association (LMBA) held its AGM on Monday 19th May.

While time was allocated to the usual tasks of an AGM, the main thrust of the meeting was to consider the Association’s proposed Business Plan which highlighted four key areas for action:
Promotion and Marketing; Lobbying, Local and Environmental issues and Social Activities and Events.

The most ambitious of these was the proposal to upgrade the existing and already very successful Long Melford Village Website which was established 10 years ago and maintained since, by Roger Kistruck to promote the village, its history, community and businesses.

One benefit of the enhancement will be to make the website more accessible and flexible. It will enable the members of the Association to easily update  their own information ensuring topicality.  Members will have the opportunity of signing up at various levels to suit their respective businesses.

Another exciting venture planned will be the creation of a Long Melford 'Bag for life' which will help to  cut down on plastic bag use, promote the village and help raise funds for local good causes.

The Committee was greatly encouraged by the positive response of the well attended meeting.

The restaurateur Nick Barrett was unanimously re-elected Chairman.  Other members of the Committee are Susan Foran, Patrick Kohler, Alex Lyall, Richard Westlake and Sarah Wilson.
