Long Melford Business Association Environment

 BREAKING NEWS JULY 2010

THE LONG MELFORD BAG WHILST STAYING GREEN IN PRINCIPLE WILL SHORTLY BE AVAILABLE IN BLUE! KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED.

The Long Melford Bag

You will probably notice that Long Melford has it’s own attractive re-usable bag on sale for just £1.50.

The ‘Long Melford Bag’ has been organised by the Long Melford Business Association (LMBA) and is green, not just in colour ,but also as it aims to help users cut down on their plastic bag consumption. Made from recycled materials and with a distinctive image of the village on each side (realised by the artist Gordon Parkinson from Trinity Gallery Long Melford) as well as with a reminder of the new Village Website address, it makes for a more stylish and appealing bag than many of those currently available.

All profits from the bag will go to support local good causes and this year funds will go towards the ‘Friends of the Group’ (FOG) who are raising money for the rebuild of the Long Melford Scout Hut.

£350 has already been presented to FOG as a result of sales so far, so thank you to everyone who has helped to make the bag a success.

You can currently purchase your ‘Long Melford Bag’ at the following outlets in the village but others are likely to stock them soon, so please keep an eye out for them :

Landers Bookshop

Melford Fine Foods,

The Barbershop,

The Black Lion,

The Post Office,

Trinity Gallery,

Scutchers.

The Committee member leading on 'environmental issues' is Sarah Wilson at Landers Bookshop. Please make suggestions of areas we could address together, to her.
