On Wednesday, July 14 the new Sudbury and District Loyalty Card will be launched with a reception for members of the scheme at Waitrose in Sudbury.
Local traders from Sudbury, Long Melford and nearby villages have joined this Reward Scheme which is designed to bring benefits to their regular customers. Around 30 different traders have signed-up for the scheme, which offers a range of discounts and free gifts. Among the traders are a greengrocer, jewellers, bookshop, insurance company, local department store, menswear shop, drinks supplier, music store, t.v. and sound system retailer and a golf club. Members of the scheme are independent traders who offer quality goods and service to their customers. Initial funding for the scheme has been provided by Waitrose Sudbury and Sudbury Town Council, and this has provided the first 1,000 loyalty cards. It is expected that the Mayor of Sudbury, Cllr Peter Goodchild, in launching the scheme at Waitrose on Wednesday, will purchase the first card. Cards, priced at only £1 each, will go on sale the next day at each of the traders who have joined the scheme. They will display a burgundy red membership card in their windows to make it easy for customers to identify traders who offer special deals to people carrying the loyalty card.
Ruse and Son celebrate 150 years Monday, 12 of July, 2010
Fifth-generation butcher Oliver Ruse is celebrating 150 years of family ownership at his shop in Suffolk. The Ruse & Son business was started in 1860. His father retired recently, leaving Oliver and his wife to take over the business. A next-door abattoir, also part of the family firm, takes meat from local farmers and smallholders to supply the shop, at a rate of approximately 60 animals a week. Ruse & Son appeared on the BBC Look East news. To view the news clip click play below (courtesy of BBC) or click here to go to the BBC news website.
