Coming Events for the Long Melford Parish Plan

Tuesday 23rd March 2007 : Public Meeting to discuss the findings and report

In the Village Hall at 19:30

A bit of a slide show and discussion of the results, where we go next and how we get there.

Annette Gray of Suffolk ACRE (who addressed the first public meeting in June 2005 and got it all started) will be our guest, and will say a few words too.

--

There is a long list of 'actions' in the report, and almost every one of them will depend to a fair extent on public enthusiasm to get anywhere. We hope that this meeting will be an opportunity to find out who wants to have a hand in tackling which of the most urgent issues.

We already have a lot of names of volunteer helpers from the back page of the Household Questionnaire forms, but now there are some more actions to add to that list.

If you'd like a quick look at the list of actions, it is available in .html format as well as a paper document.

On Friday 15th September there will be a Quiz - Night
to help raise the last of the funds for the Parish Plan.

In The Old School Community Centre at 19:45.

It will be great fun for all :

Teams of about four people

A supper (Quiche and a jacket potato kind of thing) and

an entertaining Quiz (by those very experienced quizmasters, Rob Guyton and Judi Walton)

Various prizes for winners and losers, those that deserve it and those that don't!

A raffle

Entry £5 per person

There is no license, but you may bring your own drinks (alcoholic or otherwise). Glasses provided.

Tickets MUST be booked in advance. Phone Rob or Judi on 01787 378253, or ask any Steering Group member.

7th May 2006

With the household questionnaire on its way back, and being entered into its database, there will be a pause of a few weeks before we can say anything very sensible by way of results. If all goes well, the input from Young People, businesses and visitors will come along in parallel, and we should begin to be able to see the picture as a whole some time in June.

When there is enough to make it worth while, we shall be calling public meetings to talk about it and to decide what to do next in the way of an 'Action Plan'.

We are still looking for a few more people to help to put the answers into a database so that they can be analysed for the report. Software is provided, and it will take a few hours to input between 50 and 100 questionnaires each. You don't have to do any analysis. All that is needed is a PC, some time, and a bit of care not to make mistakes. If you'd like to help with this, please phone Roger on 01787 311165 or email <roger@melforward.org.uk>.
