ALPACA ADOPTIONS

Melford Green’s adopt an alpaca scheme is designed to allow the adoptive parent to get close to these quiet, gentle and endearing animals and so learn more about them as well have a little fun along the way.

An alpaca adoption runs for one calendar year and can start at any time – just let us know on which date you wish the adoption to start a Birthday perhaps? 

A specially presented certificate which includes a picture of the adopted animal will arrive in time for the special day.  It can be posted anywhere in the UK at no extra charge (please give 2 working days notice + posting time).

Throughout the year the adoptive parent will receive regular Newsletters which feature progress of the animals and general information about alpacas.

In the summer months, each adoptive parent (along with a maximum of 2 guests) will be invited to join us at the farm for a personal tour (lasts 2-3 hours) when they will get to meet their adopted animal and the rest of the Melford Green herd.   During the tour they will also be shown around the nursery paddocks and get close to the new born cria (baby alpacas).  This is something that we cannot allow during our general open days and so remains something special for the adoptive parent.  The tour finishes with the chance to take an alpaca for a walk.
