2010 Recitals With an increased audience, as many as 120 on some occasions, during our second year, we now look forward to our third exciting season of recitals which will begin on the first Wednesday in May – yes, I repeat, the FIRST Wednesday - when we will begin as usual with Peter Dollimore our Recitals Manager opening the season with “A Mighty Handful” of Russian piano music. Following this will be Las Guitaras the classic guitar duo, who have been so supportive over the years. They have become firm favourites, and on this occasion will be giving us a flavour of Spain, Latin and Baroque music. The following week we shall be hosting a 50 voice choir from Hamburg ‘Kantorei Gross Flottbek’ which is an exciting prospect. The last Wednesday in May will see another welcome return, soprano, Katherine Hambridge who will be celebrating the composer Wolf in song. Four recitals in May is a first for us; we shall also be extending the season in September to three recitals making a total of 20 recitals, not 18 as in the past. Our past success has given us the confidence to fulfil the request made by our regular patrons to increase the number of occasions on which they can meet at Holy Trinity Church, to enjoy a ‘lite bite’ and listen to their favourite music. We shall see a welcome return of the The Scintillo String Quartet this time playing a Mozart Quartet in D minor K421, West Suffolk Young Musician Jonathan Soman , on this occasion playing his saxophone and the Taylor-Arnell Trio who will be playing the Bruch Double Concerto. We have also invited well-known cellist, Rebecca Walker who will play the Debussy Cello Sonata and the early instrument group ‘Wyldes Noyse’ with a programme of 16th© music. Details for the full season may be found on a poster in the Church Porch, on the ‘Friends’ Notice Board, on the village website www.longmelford.co.uk or in our Brochure which has now been mailed to you. If you are not on our mailing list and would like to be, there is a card in the information stand at the back of Holy Trinity Church or you can phone me, Jilly Cooper, on 01787-281836 to secure your copy. Jilly Cooper, Creative Manager 10 March 2010
