Long Melford ready for Tour of Britain On Friday 17th September at 11.30 am the Tour of Britain Stage Seven will reach Long Melford. Long Melford has been chosen for a Sprint event of the 119 top world cyclists. Our main street, Hall Street, is a wonderful choice as it is a wide road allowing all the riders to go through at speed. All the pubs and restaurants are geared up for the expected influx of spectators who will line Hall Street to watch this exciting part of the race, several will be serving food and refreshments outside their premises. Residents will be out supporting the cyclists and everyone is keen to show off Long Melford for this event. Stage Seven starts at 10:15 am at Bury St Edmunds Abbey Gardens and weaves its way through Clare, Cavendish, Foxearth and arrives in Long Melford at Rodbridge Corner. Spectators will have time to travel from Bury St Edmunds to Long Melford and get ready for the excitement. Parking has been arranged free at Melford Hall by the National Trust.
